Additionally, if your symptoms consist of chest pain, trouble catching your breath, or heavy or irregular heartbeats, your provider may also recommend cardiac testing to ensure your utmost safety. What Can I Expect from An ECG?
Before we perform an ECG, we will first decide whether you should be visiting an emergency room for more emergent care. If we don't feel this is the case, we can proceed with an ECG at our office. ECGs are painless tests that measure the electrical activity of an individual's heart. This test will show if a person's heart is functioning properly. We'll attach patches to your arms, legs, and chest that will send your activity levels to our electrocardiograph, which will be recorded on screen and/or paper. The peaks and valleys on the report will help Dr. Fieldsmith interpret the activity of your heart and whether or not it's functioning properly. Depending on the results of your test, we may suggest you seek out specialized treatment from a nearby medical facility.
